The National Graduate Environmental Forum is a large academic event for graduate students organized by the School of Environmental Science and Engineering of Tongji University since 2006. It has been held for 18 consecutive years and has built an academic platform for "free exchange, exploration and innovation, open sharing and collaborative development" for graduate students in environmental and related fields across the country. Through the "theme report", "sub-forum report", "poster selection" and "Green new fashion activities", the forum called on the majority of young students to strengthen their ideals and beliefs, adhere to green and low-carbon development, and outline a new blueprint for the development of China's environmental protection cause.
The 18th National Graduate Environmental Forum, with the theme of "Shouldering the Mission of The Times and Sharing the Road to Green and Low-carbon Development", was held in Mingjing Building, College of Environmental Science and Engineering, Tongji University on May 27, 2023.
Thanks to the influence and professionalism accumulated over the years, the Forum received 154 articles submitted by young students from 65 universities and research institutes, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tongji University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Nanjing University and Zhejiang University. The coverage of participating universities has been further expanded.
The forum received more than 40 manuscripts on this topic, accounting for about one-third of the total manuscripts, which fully demonstrates the importance of contemporary environmental students to China's carbon emission reduction cause.
In order to respond to the national call for low-carbon environmental protection, the content of the proceedings of this forum has been adjusted, and the title, author information, abstract and keywords of the paper are displayed. The text, charts and references of the paper can be obtained by scanning the two-dimensional code, which greatly reduces the length of the manuscript.

May 27, 2023
1. Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony of the forum was held at 9:00 am on May 27 in the Lecture Hall 121 of Mingjing Building, College of Environmental Science and Engineering, Tongji University. Mr. Wang Xiaoli, Vice Minister of the Study (Research) Department of the Party Committee of Tongji University; Mr. Huang Zhong, co-founder and Executive Dean of Asia of the School of Sustainable Finance; Mr. Zheng Xiong, Vice Dean of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering of Tongji University; and Ms. Lu Lijun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering of Tongji University were invited to attend the opening ceremony. Chen Yuanyuan, master of Environmental Science in 2022, presided over the opening ceremony.
At the opening ceremony, Teacher Zheng Xiong and Teacher Wang Xiaoli delivered welcome speeches, highly appraising the 18 years of persistence and continuous innovation of the Environmental Forum, affirming the significance of the Environmental Forum, and also putting forward strong hopes for the future development of the forum. 2. Thematic report
After the opening ceremony, Mr. Huang Zhong, co-founder of the School of Sustainable Finance and Executive Dean of Asia, and Mr. Wang Yayi, professor of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering of Tongji University, respectively gave presentations on the topics of "Climate Technology and Sustainable Investment" and "Thoughts on the Research and Development of autotrophic nitrogen removal Technology of High ammonia nitrogen Wastewater".
The two professors' presentations were easy to understand and of excellent academic nature, which greatly aroused the interest and thinking of the students attending the conference, broadened their horizons and enriched their relevant professional knowledge. 3. Parallel sessions
At 13:00 on May 27, the 36 finalists for the oral presentation of this excellent paper will give presentations in six sub-venues. The students made detailed and wonderful reports according to the content of their papers, showing full academic enthusiasm and excellent academic accomplishment. The judges made the final evaluation according to the report content, treated each student's report results with a scientific and rigorous attitude, gave an objective and fair evaluation of the finalists' reports, and put forward valuable opinions on the research content and future research direction of each student.

4. Poster selection
During the intermission of oral presentation, the judges and students participated in the poster selection with ballot papers in hand. In the poster display area, the judges and students carefully looked at the posters, and had a heated discussion, and finally cast their precious votes for their favorite posters in the poster voting area.
5.Award Ceremony and Closing Ceremony
In the award ceremony, the experts jointly attended the award ceremony and closing ceremony of the Forum. Xu Zelin, Chairman of the Research Branch of the School of Environment, Tongji University, delivered the work report of the forum, and Cao Jiachang, a graduate student of 2022, presided over the closing ceremony.

Subsequently, the list of winners of the Excellent Organization Award and the list of winners of the oral report poster group were announced, and four universities, Beijing Normal University, Tsinghua University, Tianjin University and Xi 'an University of Architecture and Technology, won the excellent organization Award of the forum. Finally, Mr. Ma Luming, secretary of the Party branch and director of Tongji Gaotingyao Environmental Science and Technology Development Foundation, and Mr. Huang Qinghui, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Environment, gave speeches successively, encouraging young people in the new era not to forget their original intentions, have the courage to explore and innovate, constantly strengthen scientific accomplishment, and jointly defend the motherland's green mountains and rivers.

Yangtze River Delta Sustainable Development Research Institute visit and study
In order to improve the majority of environmental students' understanding of the field of sustainable development, deepen their cognition of the national "dual carbon" policy, and stimulate their innovation awareness and practical ability, the 18th National Graduate Environmental Forum held a visit and study activity of the Yangtze River Delta Sustainable Development Institute with the theme of "Green low-carbon drawing a new volume, working together to start a New journey" on the morning of May 28, 2023. Nearly 30 graduate students from more than 20 universities and research institutes across the country participated in this activity.
In the discussion session, the students actively asked questions, and Mr. Weng answered their questions about the organizational structure of the institute, school-enterprise cooperation and the development of cutting-edge digital twin technology in detail. In addition, the students also exchanged discussions on topics of interest to each other, and had a further understanding of cutting-edge concepts and technologies in the field of environment.
At the end of the activity, Mr. Weng and the students took a photo together in the institute. So far, the visit and learning activities have come to a successful end. This activity will help students learn and implement the new development concepts of innovation, coordination, green, open and sharing, gather new thinking of low-carbon environmental protection, clarify the context and direction of sustainable development, effectively shoulder the historical responsibility of socialist modernization with Chinese characteristics, and make greater contributions to further promote the cause of sustainable development in China.
At this point, the 18th National Graduate Environmental Forum has temporarily come to an end. The success of the Environment Forum cannot be achieved without the support of leaders, sponsors, experts, participants, staff and volunteers.
